Re-leaf Landscape Design & Consultation | Seattle Area Landscape Design

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you differ from other Landscape Designers?

I have gardened all my life and continue to garden for the joy of it. I also have over 20 years experience in the field and I have a degree in Horticulture. Most importantly I visit public gardens, nurseries and the Center for Urban Horticulture Library on a regular basis to keep up to date.

Can you create a truly low-maintenance garden?

I have solved hundreds of gardening dilemmas, most on a tight budget and in high traffic/high stress conditions. I can make seemingly impossible plants or situations work without overworking the gardener or using too many resources. I have always approached gardens sustainably because of my respect for the natural world.

Can you design ponds, walls, walkways, and fences?

Indeed. I can incorporate any or all of these features according to your desires and feasability. I have a list of qualified professionals who can install any of these features.

Do you do installations or maintenance?

I can coach you to do your own installations, or refer an educated, experienced gardener or crew to install or do maintenance for you. I can also coach you on good maintenance practices so you can work in your own garden.

Can you work with small landscapes or even patio gardens?

Yes, I love to create “potted gardens”! There are many dwarf plants that can be used to replace full-sized cousins. Most plants, including edibles and some trees can be grown in containers. I have designed several 'edible patios'.

Can you teach me how to grow vegetables and other edibles?

I can show you how to prepare the beds/soil, choose the right varieties, where to get plants/seeds, and write up a calendar for either spring/summer or year-around veggie growing. I can design with edibles for wildlife, too.
