Greenlake Edible Garden
The Greenlake yard was grass, ivy and an ugly hedge that blocked off this lovely old home. The owners wanted to be able to see their garden as well as the neighborhood. They also envisioned a small patio so they could sit and chat with passing neighbors. And they wanted primarily edibles as long as they were attractive and interesting through most of the year.
Because the ivy had so engulfed the stone wall they agreed that starting over was the best option. The new stone wall will hold many edibles as well as evergreen plants to provide a backdrop and interest for all seasons. The next phase will utilize the parking strip with the addition of stone raised veggie beds (with bench on top of wall next to the sidewalk). I also presented them with a garden schedule so they know when to plant and harvest their edibles. This is one of my favorite designs!
