This Queen Anne business received many compliments about the color in their front planter. The trouble was that it required too much maintenance and plants needed to be pruned to keep them within the bed and from blocking the windows. Also, some of the permanent plants did not tolerate sun (like the grass in front).
The new design utilized only plants that would fit within this small space, require no shearing and have varied leaf shapes, textures and color year-around. There was still a space for annuals for that pop of color needed to guide people to the front door. I look forward to seeing this bed again in the spring!
